lost audio

Hi,
To cut a long story short, I have no audio sound since my pc was reformatted two weeks ago. I do not have the original motherboard CD disc either. How can I get this problem solved? I would appreciate any help.
Thanks

i would recommend u go to the mobo site and see if u can get the drivers from there downloaded, or if its a separate sound card...go to their web site for those drivers, unless you have the disk for the sound card. Also, have u checked the computer sound levels(under master volume)? it could be turned all the way down or on mute...open the audio options from the control panel.

ok, because my technician is not being so successful after two weeks of looking for the audio driver (on the internet and from other technicians) I decided that I would try and figure this problem out myself. I wonder if someone is capable of directing me step by step of what I have to do. First of all, for eg. how do I know the name of the audio driver? From there I could probably look on the internet for downloads. Where do I find the name of the audio driver for a start?
Thanks for all your replies so far.

well, do you know where you bought the motherboard from? newegg tells you the audio device that it has. Unless your talking about a computer from HP, Compaq, Dell, ect, then if you can go to there website and the description for your computer might say some audio information.

i have met the same problem last month, and i searched help on this forum too...but unfortunately, i re-installed my computer again eventually...

Good luck , dude.
