I lost the cd to my favorite game but i have it installed on a laptop and i tried to switch it by copying all the files over to my main system but it detected that it wasn't installed using the disk or whateva, is there anyway i can get it to work? like copying the registry keys or w/e...

It not as simple as that, you could try and find all the dependencies of the game. Maybe use filemon and regmon to see what files/reg keys are being looked for when you start your game. Then copy them from the location on your laptop.
Or just call the company and ask for another cd
