well, i was running 1.53 GHz (amd 1800+) for a bit, and i bought a new motherboard (asus a7v8x-x) , which i think changed it because he asked what it ran at, i think he misunderstood me and set it for 1.5GHz, im not really sure if i can change it back to 1.53 ? through bios, but im not very knowledged about bios, can sombody help me and tell me how?

oh nm i found out:) and ive got another question....in bios, where you goto change your cpu speed, it pops up with like 4-5 selections, now are all of those selections supported by the cpu? like those are the ones i can set it to without overclocking?

oh, well in bios, for the cpu speeds choices are 1150Mhz, 1533Mhz, 1917Mhz, and 2300Mhz... now when i change to 1917, or 2300, it says i have to make sure my memory's max frequency is not lower than 333. when i change to 1917, or 2300, the only choices i get for mem. frequency is only 333. when i have it on 1533Mhz, i get the choices of 266, 333, 400. so im wondering if i can change the cpu speed to either 1917Mhz or 2300Mhz without damaging it?

it was prob just rounding to teh nearest tenth just to make it easy so if ppl ask u how fast ur comp is u dont have to sound like a frickin dork and be like "uh ya mine runs at one point five three gigahertz ah huh (sniffle)" :P

He?

They are selections supported by the mobo

1. It does? I had that mobo and it didnt tell me nothin
2. You can manually override

It sounds to me like you have the front side bus (FSB) set to 100 mhz and the multiplier set to 15. 100 x 15 = 1500. The board probably did this during auto detection.

To correct this set the FSB to 133 and the multiplier to 11.5. 133 x 11.5 = 1529.5 or 1.530 ghz

Be sure to set the multiplier to 11.5 before exiting bios or you will severely overclock the cpu and you might have to reset the bios with the jumper or remove the battery to clear out your bios settings.

Your problem is also two fold, your FSB running at 100 mhz is only giving you 200 mhz effective FSB to your cpu and you should be at 266. You are giving your system an unneccessary bottleneck. When you correct the FSB in bios to 133 it will also correct this.
