lost keycode for window 2000

A friend gave me a Windows 2000 cd, he lost the keycode for it. Is there a way I can find it on the cd. Please help I only have Windows Me, and It keeps freezing up. HELP!:confused:
 
Well if he gave it to you, you can't use it anyways, unless he gave it to you with the computer that it was originally installed on.

We can't help you here at all, because we aren't going to give you one, it is your problem, and this is bordering illegality. Call Microsoft.

Nevermind, I though he was using the CD to reload his own copy.
 
Giving you the CD without the key is illegal. If I did that to a client I'd be burned at the stake. I do believe helping you is against the rules here. Your only alternative is Microsoft, but they are going to ask you where you got it. I doubt you will garner much sympathy from them, but I guess you can always try.
 
Seriously? I've heard otherwise here on the forum that using a different disc with your own key is fine.
 
You can not distribute software without the COA, no. I am not even allowed to buy it from the suppliers without the COA.
