Lost password: Help please.

My nephew was playing around with my computer and i don't know what he did. Now, i can't get in. I forgot my admin password. is there any way to get back into my system?
 
Your nephew would have to have admin access to change passwords to begin with. I would ask your nephew what he changed it to. Otherwise you may have to wipe it out and reload the OS.
 
I asked him and he doesn't know what he pressed. :-(
Can i get a recovery disk for windows 2000? Maybe online somewhere?

That still requires admin access, and by default windows XP doesn't even show the Administrator account, it hides it, and if you don't set it up during installation its not even present.

This sounds way too fishy for me.
 
I'm not sure about windows 2000, but if you start XP with in Mode, you can log onto the administrator account and delete the other main administrators password.
 
Why must people join here and make up stories trying to get us to reset admin passwords for them...

i'd use hiren's boot cd and use the password eraser function. very good boot cd. it's number 7 on the list i think
