So my dad gave me his old laptop since I really need one right now. Its fairly old but not too old. Its some Dell Latitude from years ago. Anyway my dad forgot the password to it and I really need to get through it so im looking for help. Ive researched it to no end and I cant find a solution.
Its running XP and the password it asks is in the XP menu. But not the kind where theres different users, the kind where you can type in username. Ive tried the whole Administrator thing but cant seem to get that to work. Problem is this was one of those mini laptops so it doesnt have a CD drive so I can't download any of those third party cracks.
Anyone have any ideas to help me around this ? I dont care if everything on it gets whipped I just need to use the laptop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Boot to safe mode, log into administrator account, go to control panel, user accounts and delete the password for that user. Reboot and you will be able to access that account.

If he can't get into the "administrator" account through the main login, then it's passworded, so he won't be able to get in through safe mode either.

It's possible to reinstall XP off of a flash drive, you might look into that. Any discussion of USB bootable cracks would be against forum rules.

There are portable CD drives that can plug via USB. You could try one of those, and you could also use that for normal use on the laptop.
