Loud DVD burner at startup

Hey all. Just something that's started happening lately. I've noticed that when my PC boots up into Windows, my DVD drive spins up loud for about a minute before it settles down. It didn't used to do this, but suddenly started about a week ago. There has always been a DVD in the drive (Oblivion), but it didn't always do this.

Any reason it might start acting this way? Is it just the type of drive I have perhaps?

There could be something in the drive and maybe the boot setup has been changed some how.... it's trying to boot of the dvd drive...

Well, it doesn't happen until after Windows has started to load up (welcome screen and all that), so wouldn't that be too late to boot from it?

oh ok.... mine does that sometimes if there is a disc in there..... i don't know why.... but... it is the way it is...

We bought a compaq online, and it had a similiar problem. my dad thought the drive was going to break soon, so we just returned it. The replacement we got does the same thing, just not as loud.

well it obviously isn't a problem... so i don't think you should worry about it... it's just the way the OS is....
