Low End Cards

Which would you choose?

Between the 6600gt and x800gt, which would you choose.
6600gt-pci-express $154

SM 3.0 support
FP 32 support
sli capable

cons:

256-bit interface
crossfire?

SM 2.0 support
FP 16 support




Is 256MB and 256-bit more important than SM 3.0 and FP 32 support? Supposedly, the x800gt is faster than a 6600gt. X800gt also based on ati x850 core, but with half the pipelines.
 
those arnt low end cards, low end would be the fx5500 or ati 9600.

I'd go with the 6600gt, my friend had it and it played all the newest games at highest settings.
 
Yes, those are definatly NOT low end cards. A low end would classify as a Radeon X300 (for PCI-E), or a 9600 for AGP. As for those choices, I would go with the X800 cuz I have had many ATI and Nvidia card but I personally like ATI much better and have found them to outperform Nvidia cards in the same class (but it also depends on what else you got in your PC)

What have we gotten ourselves into!?! think of all those ppl still using intel extreme graphics and we're calling the x800 and 6600gt low end cards? those are pretty much up there to most ppl in the world.

i used to have the exact same card, not bad for when you dont have enough money but sadly lacking in performance.

im so glad i got my geforce 6600 gt :)

if anything they aer mid-range cards, not low end. If those are low end then what do u call an FX5500 or ATI 9200?
 
As for the cards I have had over my life, I've had (for Nvidia)- GeForce 2 MX 400 (one of the best cards I have ever owned... sigh), GeForce 4 MX, GeForce FX 5200, GeForce 6600 (which died on me)

As for ATI- Radeon 8500, Radeon 9550, Radeon 9800PRO, Radeon X700 (the one I have now)

I have had much better luck with ATI, and the fact that the 6600 died on me just left a bad taste in my mouth..... I upgrade my cards once every 5 months or so.
