low fps on 7800gs

I had an ATI 9200 agp vc and I just bought a Nvidia 7800gs agp vc, the problem is that my fps in the game war rock have not improved any bit. It's suppose to do something since the 9200 is sucks and the 7800 is suppose to be good. Did I do something wrong in the settings?

Any help would be appreciated


here are my specs if they are possibly needed:
Intel Pentium D 805 @ 2.66
ECS P4M800PRO-M
eVGA nvidia 7800gs 256
1GB Mushkin DDR1 PC3200
Ultra Xconnect 500w
WinXP pro sp2

PS: I got up to 70 fps with the new card and that's the same amount I got with the 9200
 
Please make sure that you have not accidentally turned AA and AS to the MAX because it will cause your card to lag. Firstly, tone every one of those quality settings to nothing, then download 3dmark if you haven't got that already and benchmark your card, then google your card to get a general idea of what it should be getting, if it falls in the general ball park then your card is fine, if not you can return it. The 7800 is not a very new card and the GS is every crapper, so I wouldn't expect very good framerates in modern games, even my super clocked 7900GT lags sometimes when I put things on MAX.
 
Return it?? No, don't. Maybe (like the above said) you've set AntiAliasing too high or a virus scan is running in the background. Advanced: You can disable unused services using services.msc (find guides with Google).
 
Are you running at the same settings as before? Did you install the right drivers, and remove the old ones?
 
Having old ATi drivers shouldn't affect performance, they are not used because its a nvidia card, so all it does is take up disk space, they are not activated.
 
Does it look better then with your 9200?

Well for one, the 9200 is a DX8 card, so it will force the game to run in DX8 mode. If you kept the settings default/auto for both cards, then with the 7800GS the game will detect that and raise the settings, so it would explain why it's around the same FPS. But the game should look much better, quality wise.
