I need to do a low level format but my CD drive does not work and i do not have a disc drive (so i can ot use any quick fix) i am using Win XP Pro but the computer will not boot but will just anounce on a blue screen "fatal error"

what should i do to fix this problem

Unless you have bad sectors, you don't NEED to do a LLF. But obviously, you're a bit stuck if you don't have a working drive. I would suggest investing in a new CD ROM because you'll obviously need it even if you find some other way to format...

Perhaps you should just do a quick format with windows XP and see how it works. Maybe try to find a good disk scanner to check for bad sectors. If some come up, then you know a LLF is in order. If not, just keep your install of XP :P
