So I just got "GIGABYTE GA-Z97X" and it has a slot on the MoBo for M.2

So I think i get what it is, just a SSD but on the board. So it doesn't have to go threw the SATA bus so it delivers faster read/write speeds(my MoBo advertises it as 10gbs but each M.2 chip i find only says 6gbs?) Also what would i use it for? run my OS on it? i already have a SSD that i run my OS on. Would i notice much gain in boot up time or loading big apps installed on it? what are other uses M.2 is used for?

M.2 is primarily used for ssds that have an m.2 interface. The speed will be faster than SATA3, and you might notice improvements. However m.2 ssds are more expensive
