M.2 ssd motherboard question

I will be upgrading from a hard drive to a solid state drive in a few days and I have already found the m.2 ssd I want to upgrade to but my question is would the motherboard automatically recognise the ssd or would I have to update the bios
Sorry if it’s a stupid question I have never done this before
Thanks

It's pretty plug and play, insert, screw down, boot Windows USB stick, install Windows, assuming you aren't trying to clone the HDD piece.

I'd go ahead and update the BIOS before you do it for good measure, probably work fine without it though. Some boards will have the M.2 slot disabled depending on what PCI-E slots you're using. Might check your mobo manual for any mention of something like that. Should be pretty plug 'n play though.
