I want to purchase a mac desktop or laptop or get a mac OS X on a HDD.

I want to play around with macs.


So....
Since this is just fooling around, I do not want to spend over $400.
Lol.


Any condition, has to be good for basic stuff and stuff.

ebay is your best bet, a G4 mac mini will probably be the cheapest, if you want an intel based mac the intel mac mini would be your cheapest also. Note that on any PPC based mac you will not be able to run any virtual machines of windows, or Linux (unless its a PPC distro) or run boot camp.


A base intel mac mini will probably cost you at least $500
