Mac Leopard + Windows Vista

Hi all,

I have a Sony Fz laptop and have just purchased a copy of the new Mac OS, however, my aging mac probably can't handle it. However, i figure i have this powerful laptop running Vista (which i haven't bonded to as much XP).

How difficult do you think it would be to get Leopard and Vista to duel boot on the Sony Laptop?

Anyone else put Leopard on a Sony Laptop and seen the results?

this can not be done with out hacking the TPM, and it breaks the EULA of OS X. So, to answer your question no, and if you did get around and load it, it would be considered illegal.

Just out interest, why is this illegal? I don't quite understand, or my knowledge is some what different to yours. I thought OSX can be installed on other machines other than Macs?

I believe that it is illegal to install OSX on non-Macs because you have to edit the actual software to make it work. Could be wrong, but im pretty sure editing the actual OS files is against EULA.

Ahh well nevermind. Will give it a go and see how i get on.

Many technologies use what is called a TPM (trusted platform module) which is typically a hardware encoded device (or chip) that must be present for a technology to work. A lot of companies use it, including Apple. OS X EULA clearly states that OS X may be loaded on any single Apple branded computer per a license. Meaning you are not allowed to load it on non Apple hardware.

Therefore things like project OSX x86 are technically illegal because they are hacking around the TPM to be able to load it on a different platform.

Well you see, the reason you can't is because it's by Apple. Why do you think their computers cost so much? They can get away with charging outrageous amounts of money because people love the OS....it'd be way cheaper to build a computer off of newegg and just put an Apple OS on it, and they [Apple] know it, so they don't allow you to do so.
