Mac to TV hook-up

I'm looking for help. I've been trying to hook up my early 2008 macbook pro to a new 32 inch LED vizio tv. I have been able to get video by using a DVI to HDMI hook-up, but i'm having a lot of trouble with the audio. I tried an RCA to 3.5mm only to find out my TV doesn't work with it. I have just tried to connect a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cord to my headphone jack, and the audio jack at the back of the TV. I was under the impression that this would fix the problem, but no such luck. If anyone could give some advice I would really appreciate it.

The computer is working on my tv because i have a DVI to HDMI hook up. The mac is older and has a DVI slot. I'm not quite sure what you mean by green audio.

I also noticed that I have a optical digital audio out slot on the back of the TV. Would I have to use that for audio from my computer?

Sorry I asked about video because I have a tv and might use it as a monitor so just curious how nice the display is. Can you give me a link to your tv or the model number please.

Ok thanks, I'll take a look later today and let you know. Too bad your computer doesn't have a HDMI port.
