Mac vs PC

If you had to choose between Apple Mac and PC computers, which would you choose?

Even though Mac is more expensive than if you built a computer, it still has its advantages such as no viruses and no OS updates.

ya it really is, I'm thinking PC is gonna stay around forever, Apple doesn't have nearly as many connections to business and such as Microsoft does and things like that don't tend to change (ie, if it ain't broke don't fix it) and it all depends what your doing on them to. PC's are for games and business and Macs are mainly for Media development and all that, One technical, one creative and there seems to be alot more "technical" people than "creative" people but I'd have to go with PC, you can tweak them so muct to make em run exactly how you want to, I've had the computer i have now for 5 years and it has never done anything insanely problematic and it can still run a mean Counter Strike Source game now and again ha.

PC.

I'm extremely budget-oriented, and while Macs do offer nice features they aren't really worth the extra price (IMO). I save wherever possible, and I don't see a point in spending a money in a this-and-that-awesome-gadget-loaded-macbook with a high-quality LCD and blah blah, when a cheap AUD$400 lappy with a single-core CPU and a modest 80GB HDD Vista Basic/Linux installed will be more than enough for my needs. And I really don't fancy Mac OSX, I can't see any big advantages over Windows/Linux (used them things at school)

Oh and then the apple. I hate the apple logo. Do they really need to have massive glowing fruit stickers all over their computers (End Sligth Exaggeration)? IMO it looks kinda childish...

PC.

I have been it all my life, even though a mac is PC, as in personal computer, but w/e, right?

There is nothing wrong with macs. Just I don't have the money to spend over 600$ on a comp that i am not going to build. I just don't need all the 'mac only' feature sets.

i love that image, it says it all, i mean i always think the guy in the commercials is a freaking douchebag, i mean i buy my jeans at a discount store, not abercrombie and fitch

no viruses?! are u kiddin me! lol. of course macs have viruses, do yourself a favor and don't listen to apple who say that mac is the best and that it doesn't have viruses, it does! lol, macs are the same as pc's only prettier and 3 times the price.

I say PC, :D

I like both and use both, and they both have their advantages. Macs aren't just good for graphic design and multi media, because I don't do any of that on my Mac. The Macintosh platform is great for many reasons. People who say they have no business connections like MS don't know what they are talking about. There is nothing a PC can do that a Mac can't besides maybe video games. However, the really big titles do get ported over to Mac, and some companies always make Mac versions, like Blizzard for example and Id.

It boils down to personal preference.

PC, for better customization, more compatibility, much cheaper hardware, easier to use(for me), and for not supporting that douchebag Steve jobs.

And yes OSX has updates, just like windows.

You know that Steve Balmer is a much larger douche than Jobs right?

More compatibility is a moot point, Macs can run Windows now, hence they can run any Windows application as well. Add the open source abilities of OS X and you pretty much have an application to do everything.

I agree on the hardware customization though. That is for sure true. However, with a Mac you get more stability and quality control because of the narrow hardware scope. It is a two way street and there are pluses and minuses to both aspects on every side.

Yeah, I'm fully aware of Steve Balmer's douchery, they're about equal in my books.

I realize you can run windows on a mac, but whats the point of getting a mac if you still need to use windows? To pay an inflated hardware price? No thanks, I'll stick to my windows only machines.

Stability and quality control...I guess on paper it looks that way, but I have problems with Macs just like with PCs. The only difference is having to find drivers in Windows, but hell, with the vast amounts of hardware choice out there, and since it's easy to find drivers for most of it, it's a small price to pay.

Plus it's scary how hot the macbook pros get. I even used a cooling pad and it was still too hot to use on a lap. Hey Jobs, air vents, a GOOD thing;)
