I want to switch my 2011 Macbook Pro 13' hard drive to an SSD? I want a SSD ranging from $50-100 giving 60-100 GB space. I was looking around and saw some nice deals online but wasn't sure if its compatible or not and some people complained about problems they experienced as well. Can someone help me find a drive and tell me what things i should verify before buying (sata 2 or 3, ssd company, etc...).

P.S. Are there any companies i should avoid?

SSD's are pricey, for $100 you will get a 60GB SSD. I believe your MBP takes SATA II, to be sure open up System Profiler and see what it states for the interface.

If it is up to you if you want too, I do not know for a laptop if it is very cost effective. From what I read though it seems to make boot/loading much faster. The only thing I don't know is how you would install it or how much it would cost to have someone else to do it.

I don't think it's worth it...Unless your a dev and want to replicate somewhat a similar environment to your production and are doing a ton of DB queries...Otherwise pretty expensive and not sure the gain.

Well I just did my research on it and it seems like a smart choice if you plan on keeping the laptop for long term. Faster read and write speeds, uses less battery, produces less heat and typically last longer.

Applications boot faster but if your just using email and web there isn't much point seems like it would be expensive for the added value.
