MacBook Pro; Is it worth it?

Personally, I would buy a new one. Since it sounds like you are a student, or otherwise in education, you qualify for the Apple education discount which is usually $100 off a base MacBook Pro.

So for $1,200 you can get a brand new 13" Retina MacBook Pro which has a significantly better display, PCI-E based SSD, and better graphics. It will have less RAM and a slightly slower CPU, but the trade off is the pros I mentioned above, plus the biggest reason is a brand new battery, as after use the batteries don't hold their charge as well.

So I'm looking into getting a MacBook Pro and I have an offer from a teacher of mine for this one: http://www.everymac.com/systems/app...re-i7-2.9-13-mid-2012-unibody-usb3-specs.html

For 900$. My first question is, is this a fair price on this? And my second question is would it be worth it to get this one, or should I just get a brand new one? I really don't know much about these things so any help is appreciated, thanks!

If I may ask what do you use your computer for? If anything intense and on a budget then yes I would go for the one in the link you listed. If not then I would go for a new one as well as having the same concerns when buying used.

I'm going to be using it for college, just graduated highschool and I'm going into business administration so I probably won't be needing it for anything crazy intense

Seems like an good deal to me if you don't mind buying used. :)

But if you can spend a bit more I would do as suggested above and get a new one.

I really like my mac but it hasn't done anything a windows laptop couldn't do for less. My accounting degree hasn't required any programs exclusive to mac. If you like it buy one new but you could honestly save a few hundred and go windows.

You may have a valid point but the question was not about Mac vs PC, it was which Mac should be purchased probably because the user prefers OS X.
