MacBook Pro RAM upgrade

Hi,
I was thinking of upgrading the Ram on my MacBook from 4 gb to 8 gb.
I was wondering what makes the ram chips compatible with mac.
A friend of mine said it had to be SO-DIMM 204-pin pc8500 or something.
Is this right?

It has to be approved my apple, basically. Don't know what model you have specifically, so I can't tell you what to upgrade to, but you should be able to find what you need here:

I live in Norway, so its a bit unpractical to order something from newegg.

Like I said, I don't know what model you have specifically, so I can't comment on individual RAM kits. Assuming your Macbook uses DDR3, though, it should work.

You need a new PSU before RAM.
