when i turn on my comp i notice that i have a lot of system processes running and their are almost constantly some openeing and closing. i usually have anywhere from high 50's to low 40's. how can i stop some of these for starting. i use msconfig, theres only like 3 or 4 things checked. so why are so many things started. on my other computer i have like 23 processes on start up. any suggestions?

i wish i had 40-50...ever since i got vista i have like 75-80
wow you serious lol. thats a lot. maybe i dont have that many then. i was just comapring it to my other machine.

i run 48 now in vista..... and the same for xp... nothing wrong with it.... make sure there isn`t progrmas you don`t want booting at startup...

43 here at the moment and even Damn Small Linux which is lightweight runs about 20 minimum.
yah, there are important services that keep the os intact and running..
