I made an error installing Ubuntu 7.1 and now I don't know what to do now it since I am so unfamiliar with the operating system.

I made the mistake of copying all my files from my Windows XP into my Ubuntu Operating System. Many of the files are from video games that I cannot use with Ubuntu and they are in my system root now. Ubuntu will not let me delete the unneeded files.

These files are taking up too much space and I want to remove them. I would prefer to remove all the data on the partition Ubuntu is installed on and then do a reinstall. Is this my best option? What should I do?

As a security measure, the /Root folder is Owned by Root, you aren't given Root access without physically entering some commands.

Open Terminal and type sudo nautilus and enter your password when prompted. That will grant Root privileges and you have supreme control over every file on the computer. You can use it to set Ownership of certain folders too, if you use them a lot and they aren't yours.

I just read the second part of the Post. You want to do a clean Ubuntu Install? Why not just forgo the deletion of files and just go with the Install?
