Magnetized ram?

My brother in law's computer stopped working about a week ago, and since he bought it at a shop and was under warranty they fixed it. The thing is that when he got it back he asked the tech what was wrong with it, and he was told that the ram was magnetized.

The tech told him that he fixed the ram by cleaning the contacts with an eraser (pencil eraser that is). That by cleaning the contacts he demagnetized the ram.

This sound like b.s. to me.
Has anyone ever heard something like this? Is this even possible?

I think I have heard about this before, but they said "static" instead (maybe you are talking about that?). I heard it can mess up your parts and stuff, this hasn't affected any of my hardware yet though.

This sound like BS to me too... :)
I had once a problem with RAM. Dust accumulated on the memory module because the memory slots were near the CPU fan. That dust acted like a resistor between the RAM's contacts, so the memory didn't work well. The solution for this problem: take out the RAM, clean the RAM's and the slot's contacts, and that's all...
