Main Board Can't support FSB speed?

I OC'd my e6600 to about 2.8GHz and it the FBS was at 333MHz. When I booted up, it said that the main board didn't support 333MHz FSB? I clocked it down to 2.69GHz and it's fine now. If I wanna OC it higher though, what should I do?

I can't say because mobos are different and im with AMD, but since no one else has replied, can you decrease/increase the multiplier?

Can you go up or is it already at the max? if you go up you can get a higher clock at lower FSB. Just do it little at a time, i use a calculator to get my clocks instead of guessing. But you may only be able to drop the multiplier, you could try that too. Like i said i dont have an intel mobo so i could be well off maybe some one else will chirp in *cough cough*
