Maintenance for Monitor

Hi

I would like to know what are the tips can be used to maintain a monitor to prolong its life.

Is the dust cover useful to prolong the life of the monitor? can it be use to cover the monitor when the computer has just shutdown? or you need to wait for a few minutes before covering the monitor?

When the display screen colors faded, does this problem deal with the monitor, or the video card?

Please advice.

I won't use any cover for monitor because of moisture condensation.
You can get rid of the dust from the monitor with a vacuum cleaner set to reverse (blow, not suck). To be efficient it's better to remove the back cover of the monitor when doing this (BEWARE: remove the back cover of a monitor only if you know what you doing - it's high voltage inside, even when it's turned off and unplugged).
As for the fading colors, it's most probably caused by the monitor. A monitor changes it's specs during the years, so it requires adjustments from time to time. You can use a monitor test software to do this (like this one: http://www.benchmarkhq.ru/fclick/fclick.php?fid=263).
