Major Problem with Half Life 2 installation !!!!!!!!!!! some error pops up

ok, i have installed this game like 5 times now.
it wont work, some error pops up and the game wont load at all.

ok, i dont have internet on my other computer "the one i just built"

here is the EXACT! name of the error
and this happens when i click on anything that has to do with playing HL or clicking/ opening steam or halflife



steam.exe (main exeption) : Unable to load library Steam.dll




What is this, how do i get rid of it so i can play halflife!!!!!!!!
The game didnt ask for any CD key, i dont have the internet and i dont know what else to do!

Help me quick

All your problems revolve around no internet... so hook that computer up!
Also if you have anything less then DSL your gonna need like 2 days to decrypt and update the game... Skidude can agree to that ;)
 
wait....

heres the scope:

i finally got my computer running
everything is set.
i installed and uninstalled HL2 3 times

steam.exe (main exeption) : Unable to load library Steam.dll

and that keeps popping up. i unistalled all of halflife 2 "including Steam"

do i just uninstall steam only?

and id figure i would have to take time to update the online half because its been out for a good 2 years :/

i just dont know, ive been playing Farcry :(
 
oh, for some reason i have been getting that i dont need the internet...

why do you need the net for single player?




and i have a nother question.

in farcry "came with video card"
i have these little black squares on the ground where someone died or right under my car.
why is this?
ill be pissed if my computer cant max farcry....

you need the internet.... and you need it becuase you have to register your cd key to steam online.

ya, i think it may be that i have to turn down something,
stupid 330$ graphics card cant max farcry? that cant be right
something else is wrong here. if people can almost max FEAR, then i can max farcry
 
problems like you mention with farcry is usually caused by crappy drivers. also it can be cause by overclocking that little bit too far and the graphics are getting slightly corrupted.
ive also seen that caused when the quality setting in the nvidia control panel is set to performance, change it to quality and that might help
 
ok, i slide that at the highest it can go....

what will that do?
that little feature that were talking about. does that affect the graphics in the game and if i turn them down, will i see a drop? or will there be a slight drop that i will easliy get used to and not notice?
 
basically it "optimises" the graphics and how they are rendered, it always caused problems for me in GTA san andreas that changing that setting solved it.
its will make the game run quicker at lower settings but it will reduce graphics quality and at higher settings it goes for pure quality... its doesn't seem to make much of a noticable difference except that it can cause problems
 
ok, ill drop them down....but sadly im only 16 and im off too school.

you misunderstood me, in order to prevent the corruption you're seeing in farcry i suggest you raise the slider, it might not work but it can cause problems
 
what?
i have the little settings at the highest spot.
i think you mean lowering it because im at high high settings and im having this little black square under dead people, moving cars and what not.

ill look at what its at when i get home.
