make laptop run faster?

Hi,
do any of you guys know how i could make my laptop run as fast as when i bought it? I've got loads of school files i need to get rid of, but if u could give me any pointers on how to make it run super fast i'd be really grateful.

Well, what Antivirus do you have installed right now? Do you have any antispyware/antiadware installed right now?

For starters defragment you system. Start>>All programs>>Accessorys>>System Tools>> Diskdefragment. Then select defrag and let that run until it is finished.

Well, some anti-viruses, such as norton and macafee, use a lot of system resources and slow your computer down. And spyware slows down your computer tremedously, so a good anti-spyware/adware can keep your computer from bogging down.

I use norton. so if i defrag my laptop then it should run faster?

thanks I think that was my friends problem I will let you guys know if it will change the computers speed when We take those programs off.
 
look at the process page on start, run, msconfg and then see how many you have, you may want to close some
 
Acer's solution is to run a system restore... as i dont know what your system is i cant tell you how to go about that but you should have a set of disks that came with it and these should wipe your system and restore windows to a new installation
