make windows xp usb

no you need to modify some of the files to get it to load the USB drivers at boot time, or else it cant see the disk.

best way is to make these modifications, then run setup from the cd, and choose the memory stick to install to, instead of the hard drive. Then you can boot off that

this is not portable though. if you try and boot it on a different h/w config, it will break.

so all i have to do is copy the windows files from cd to usb and thats it?

Your wanting to install windows on the USB, correct?? Well this is how you do it.

  1. Make sure the USB
  2. Boot off the windows CD
  3. select the USB that you want to install windows on
  4. Format
  5. Follow through installing windows

Done

To test it out, boot off the USB.

If you wanting use the USB to install windows onto another computer with no CD / DVD drive, then yes, copy the files over to the USB and boot of the USB on the computer.

I hope this helps.

Are you wanting to boot off the USB and install windows on another computer to the hard drive.

Or boot windows off the USB and have windows itself on the USB, and you can take that anywhere and use windows on any computer.

What are you wanting to do??

yeah thanks for that but the files wont boot from usb will they because theres no boot file on the usb stick telling the system to boot from it, sorry if you dont understand
