Making A Short Movie - How Do You Do This With Windows Media Player...?

This is my first video I'm making. I transfered my video from the video camera to the computer, and I want to delete a couple seconds from a scene I filmed.

Eg. If my scene is 1 min long, I want to keep 1-38, delete 39-45, and keep 46-60. How do I do this...?
 
You can't do that with windows media player but you can with windows movie maker. Just go start -> all programs -> and it's usually there with XP. It's fairly self explanatory after that.
