Is there a way that I can make my wireless card (built-in) on my laptop not go into hibernation?

i too would like to know if this is possible because everytime my computer goes into hibernation my net disconnects and it is really annoying when downloading stuff

I mean sometimes when I come out of hibernation I can't get online and its really a pain cause I have to restart.

Under Control Panel > Power Options you could alter this. Set it to 'Never' on the drop down list.

I want it to go into hibernation mode but I don't want my wireless card to go into hibernation. Is there a way I can do that?

I don't know that what you're asking is possible. Hibernation simply copies the system memory to the hard drive, and then turns everything off. I don't know that you can specify an individual part of circuitry to not turn off. Bear in mind, in hibernation the hard drive's turned off, so any wireless data won't have anywhere to go. I think your only chance is if it's wake-on-lan compatible, and even then it'll only be looking for the magic packet to bring it out of hibernation.

I take it you mean hibernation rather than standby/sleep?

The guy from verizon said that he thought you could do it when you were hardwired so I think you should be able to do it when your going wireless

the only thing i can think of mind you this im doing this on vista but go to control panel>system maintenance>power options>change power plan settings>change advanced settings> and click or d click on wireless adapter and it will prolly show you power savings mode move it to high performance as far as i know thats all that can be done

I have a ton of programs when I start up but I think it will load faster if I get more ram cause I only have 512mb and am gonna upgrade to 1gig.
thats your problem right there GET RID OF THE ONES YOU DONT NEED RIGHT ON STARTUP now i see y it takes so long i have just the essentials on startup wireless connection aim msn AVG and network magic on startup and it does take a few minutes just get rid of the ones you dont need to essentialy run the computer and it should startup so much faster
