Making Wired Internet?

Hi, I currently have 2 desktops and one laptop which are connected to a wireless network i have. I use D-link router and receivers and basically, its really really bad. I have a broadband connection and sometimes my other desktop gets no signal at all from my main computer (which is connected to the internet thing in the wall)

Ive been wondering whether i can connect a cable directly from the wall and have then connect to both my desktops so they 2nd computer actually receives internet.

Is it possible doing it myself? and if i do what will it cost, like the cables etc.

Thanks!

i think i understan what you are asking.. please explain how your internet is setup..

Ex.

Modem-->ROUTER-->COMPUTER

Or draw a PIC of it

Which computer is server must start when u try to access 2nd computer network, you have check your port drive and configure ip adderss

i guess i did explain it a bit badly :p

So i have 2 desktop computers and a laptop right? One of the desktops which is my computer is connected to the D-link router which is connected to the wall socket. The router sends out wireless internet to my other desktop and laptop.

Wall socket ---> D link router

D link router --> directly to the main desktop (with an ethernet cable so it doesnt use wireless internet)

D link router --> sends wireless internet to my 2nd desktop and laptop

So i want to get rid of the wireless router and wire up my 2nd desktop with internet and worry about my laptop after :p

So im asking if i can use the wall socket to get 2 cables directly to both computers instead of just one computer.

Hope that explains it better :)

Get another ethernet cable and go from D link router --> 2nd computer

the router should have at least 4 ports in the back of it - if not buy a ethernet hub.

He says he did...!

@Radeonn: are you sure about the cable? the 85ft long ethernet cable is a cross-over or direct cable? To link a computer to a router the cable should be direct.

Why would you get rid of your router? Has it only one ethernet port on it?

And coming out of the wall is your phone line yes? You cannot have more than one modem (as far as i'm aware) making a connection, so there is no reason to split it at the wall.

Like someone said, your router must have more than one port on it, if it doesn't buy another router.

If your other desktop is half way across the house then you may not want to run a huge ethernet cable. Options are limited - if your 2nd desktop runs off the same electrical circuit as the main computer you can buy a kit that will send the internet signal through the mains wiring...

There is just a short ethernet cable from the router to the main computer. And yes, the 2nd computer is around.. 25 metres away so it would be kinda inconvenient having 25 metres of cable going from the router.

Im not sure if its the phone line, i can still use the phone if im on the internet though if that helps.

That electricity circuit kit sounds like just what i need. Some more info on it please?
