Somehow i downloaded malware alarm. i tried avg free to get rid, tried restoring system, no joy. It stopped my pc deed! had to start it in safe mode in the end just to get it running but now its a train smash.

Windows is asking for a username and password before will even let windows flash up, the problem being, i have never put a bloody user name in it, or a password for that matter.

If i ever get it sussed to turn on, is "superantispywear" sufficient to get rid?

any top tips would come in handy right now because i don't want to lose our baby's pictures. (or more importantly, all that music!!!)

Ok i have just read the basics on getting rid of malware, but i still cant get into windows, to get online, etc, its aviscious circle. I cant even start in safe without this password that i dont know. Can i save superantispywear to disc off another pc and run it offline- providing i get a solution to the password problem?

If I was you (and if you are able to), I would remove the drive and put it into another system as Slave and run virus/malware scans from the other system.

Ahh, that would seem to make good sense, providing that it doesn't ask for the user name and password again, which i have not the faintest idea about!

Would it being a slave drive remove the need for the password do you think???

You do not boot from this drive when you plug it into another computer, you boot from the main drive of that computer, so no, it shouldn't need any passwords. It will just show up as another drive (or more depedning on how many partitions you have), then just use your antivirus and malware scans on that drive.

Sometimes there can be an issue with reading the files in your profile if you set Widows to keep your documents private (then you would have to break the permissions), but give it a shot, it should work fine.

Roger on that one monkey, i will give it a go accessing it through my lap top. I take it i should back up the files on the laptop on the off chance that becomes infected aswell, that would make me a very grumpy monkey!!

Thanks for the pointers.
