Why do Nvidia and ATI have other companies make their cards? I dunno about you, but if I was designing a product, I'd want to make it too.

ATI still does make their own cards. ATI just started, don't quote me but maybe within the last few years, selling their chips to other companies. You can basically think of it like how AMD and Intel manufacture CPU's and then sell them to other companies so that they may make(build) computers. ATI and Nvidia are doing the same thing with their graphics chips.
