I'm new to the form so this is my first time posting and I'm not sure if this is the correct place to be posting this, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
I work for a big collage and they have put me in charge of 70+ computers in their classrooms. I can get windows updates to work just fine with out me having to go to each machine and install them manually. The problem I have run across is when it comes time to install a special software or to upgrade a special software. It can be a timely process to go to each machine and install the piece of software. Even creating a master image and re imaging the machines would be a timely process, but that wouldn't work for me due to that not all of the classrooms have the same software on all of them. We have tried Thin clients and dummy terminals but we have had nothing but problems with them due to some of the software that we have running on some of the machines. An ideal solution would be to have a server with all of my "images" on it and when and instructor goes to log into the computer it pulls the image from the server and puts in onto that computer. Or to have the "images" on the server and have them pushed to the machines every day or every month. I'm not looking to have the OS streaming from the server but have it running off the local machine.
Hopefully I have provided enough information. Any kind of help with this would be greatly appreciated.
