Matching

HEY Y'All!

I am building a new machine for a friend and haven't build a machine in a couple of years and am wondering about matching a CPU to MOBO. I know about Pentium and AMD - I know about the socket. But now there's prescott and about 4 mobos with the same clockspeed and socket type and I want to make sure I have a match. What else did I need to look at besides socket type? Is there a CPU/MOBO matching website?

BTW the MOBO I have is ASUS P5ND2-SLI.

Thanks in advance-
Tom

All you really need to look at is the Socket type, and the processor that the motherboard supports.

If you post your mobo and cpu that your looking at, we can make sure that it fits.

Hey!

MOBO is --> ASUS P5ND2-SLI (this MOBO goes to 1066 FSB)
CPU is --> Pentium 4 630 Processor Prescott 3.0GHz, 800MHz FSB, Socket 775, 2MB Cache

How does this CPU compare to others that can also be used?

Thanks again for the help-

you dont have to bump the thread so soon. that motherboard and cpu is compatible and why are you going with intel. have you thought about amd cause they are better in everything.

i wouldnt go that far. AMD's X2 series is practically better than Intel at everything, but besides that Intel is generally better for non-gamers.

oops sorry didn't think 12 hours was soon to bump. Anyway this system I am building is for a friend and he likes Pentium as long as these will work, than thanks for that as we are almost ready to purchase all the parts.
