Max Tempatures

If I start overclocking my A64 X2 4800+, what would you consider to be a safe absolute max, for long term overclocking. I've heard 55*C is a good temp to stick to for max OC temp for most Athlon 64.

thanks

The max temps on the newer models since the Socket A and 754s has dropped from 85-90C down to the 60-70C range depending on the model selected. Some are 60C, others are 70C with then some others seeing 65C. Getting into the 50s even when ocing is still not preferred. Since ocing stresses hardwares you want temps kept down as low as you can keep them.

The lower the better and best for long term. If a fan goes or the thermal paste/compound gets dryed out that also provides a little breathing space. But you still want to keep a close eye on temp especially when ocing for any extended period of time.
