Maxtor no good or wot?

Hi all

I haven't put my sig up cos I am still trying to put together a decent pc that works!!!! But so far
Coolermaster Centurion 532 black case
120mm exhaust fan blue led + front fan
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
1gb Crucial ddr ram
Ati Radeon X1800XT 256gb
Gold Ultra quiet 500w psu

I have had to send back what i thought was a faulty Asus A8N-E cos the machine kept shutting itself down but the vendor reckons that could be either Nforce 4 / ATI conflict (new one on me!) or slow running fan (standard AMD one - new Arctic Coolling freezer ordered) or dodgy graphics card...
So a Asus A8R-MVP Crossfire is on its way. But the main and most annoying thing of all is the hdd and its incompatibilty with nforce 4 apparently. It only appears in the bios every other time!!!! Then not at all so I spend most of my time rebooting in the vague hopes that the hdd might appear.
I am hoping that the new chipset will cure this prob but would like to know if anyone knows anything about this peculiar issue

Thanks guys

Jez

Dont know if it is your harddrive or not, but I hate Maxtor drives, Had to RMA about 1 out of every 3 I ordered till I give up on them, I just use W/D and out of all of the ones I have ordered, only had 1 bad

i have had no problems or heard about problems with a maxtor HDD try seagate or western digital. they are the other big name ones.

i have not heard of this problem before. wierd. stick around though cause someone is sure to know

Western Digital Is The Best

Seagate & Maxtor are worst. Seagate is a bit noisy and it is very porne to crashes, it overheats a lot. Go For western digital It is quite as well as coolest. If u got more budget go for the Raptor Class. otherwise go for Caviar SE 16.
