McAfee and Avast 6

I have an old XP machine and it has McAfee Security Scan Plus. McAfee tells me that I have more than one anti-virus program installed (I just uninstalled Rogers Online Protection and installed Avast 6). Is McAfee counting itself as the other anti-virus program? They shouldn't be interfering should they, because McAfee is not constantly running like avast is. Should I just uninstall McAfee or is there any advantage of having it installed when I also have avast 6?

Mcafee is telling you that another antivirus program is installed (avast). Security scan plus is a lite version of their program. You do not need it so get rid of it.
