Hi, I am using McAfee protecting my computer
I have just connect to Internet, so my first decision is upgrade McAfee, I opened it, click update and ... it says me that "an update had been downloaded and is ready to install. Click Install to start installation" , I click Install button and well, I don't see anything happens after that, is my McAfee updated already ???
one more question : I want to protect my computer completely from adware, spyware ..., what should I install in addition ?
thanks !!!

Doesn't MCafee comes with an antispyware suite ? Anyways u can use webroot spysweeper, spyware doctor and the like. I dnt use antispyware cuz my AV itself comes bundle with it.

some more which i favoured long ago
trend micro antispyware
windows Defender
Ashampoo antipyware

there are a dozen out there

I don't know how McAfee works right off... Typically I just go with AVG as it's free. But if you wish to continue using Mcafee, check the definition dates. If it did successfully update, it should have set the definition date to some later date. This can be found somewhere within the menus, though I have no idea where in this program...

As for spyware and what not, if you run Firefox, you should be nearly immune to about anything. I run Firefox and scan using Adaware and Spybot S&D every month or so. I don't think I've gotten a single occurance of spyware since!

thanks
I have one more question : do you need to cost a large amount of time to scan all disks in your computer ? just for sure that your antivirus software didn't miss out some virus

thanks !!!
