I'm trying to help a friend with a keylogger his parents put on his computer. It doesnt show up in program files, or anything, so what should he do?

The only things I could think of is boot up in safe mode and look through program files, use system restore, or when on msn, hit ctrl + alt + delete and go to the processes, and find it there.

Any other ideas?

if your friend is limited user, no way he's getting te keylogger off the pc.
if he was admin it would be ok..or maybe the parents made the file a hidden file ? so that you won't see it?

It also depends on which keylogger they are using. Here in my office we tried a keylogger just to see how it works, and certain loggers hide itself in the system processes when you hit ctrl-alt-del. Unless youre an admin like patrick said youre pretty much stuck with the logger =\.
