Meaning of BOTS and....????

i am new on here and would like quick help...i need to register on sites that allow "bots" and have no idea what that means not to talk about knowing what sites allow them...so please "what do "bots" mean"??? and can i have an idea of sites that allow "bots"??....thank u!

Elder, from my own experience, bots are computer programs that act like they are human, but they're computer robots, of sorts. I've come across them in chat room where they say, "Hi, I'm a hot female, come check out my pictures at (some web site)". Then, I think, they'll want you to pay for something - I don't know for sure, I've never checked them out. But anyway, they are annoying as all get out in chat rooms - but that's what a bot is. You'll also run across programs that ask you to type in some hard to read characters to make sure you are actually a human being and not a computer - to keep bots out.

Some Bots are also known as web crawlers.
Google and others have them.
They check out web sites and gather information for search engines, ads and such.
