Ok, my computer is xp home edition, service pack 1.
It came with windows media player 9, and i wanted to update it to media player 10. So, I downloaded the installer ofr it and it installed. However, whenever i try to open it, I get the error message "An internal application error has occured". Also, I tried using system restore to restore it to the way it was before the upgrade, and the restore said that it was not possible and that it had failed to restore the computer. Now, I can't watch or play any kind of videos or synch my portable mp3 player
Any help would be awesome:o :o
Thankx:)

Well, for a start, I would strongly recommend you install Service Pack 2. It's crucial in protecting yourself from viruses, attacks, and bugs and I suppose it's feasible that some malware is interfering here.

If system restore has failed, it is possible that the operating system is slightly in limbo between two states. If you have the original windows disk, one option is to do a repair install of Windows, which overwrites any problems without harming your personal documents, games etc. If you're getting errors left right and center, it sounds unlikely that it's just isolated to WMP, in my view.

I'm not really sure what happened to your WMP10, but if I were you, I'd rather install another (better) media player. There are so many good and FREE ones like WinAmp and Media Player Classic which I think beat Windows Media Player any time.

Also, I rolled back to WMP9 after I installed WMP10. WMP10 is bloated in my opinion..

you know i disagree completely, i use WMP10 and i have had not problems, it is not hard to use, it is safe usually and sorts out music easily

Once you fix your problems, i would also recommend Winamp, as it has no problems and no virus vulnerability.
