Media Player Brightness problem

just in the past few days ive been having problems with windows media player. any video i play plays back really bright. as if the brightness of the video has been turned up to max. the brightness and contrast sliders in WMP however are both on normal and turning them down helps a bit but its still irregular. how can i fix this?

I would either update WMP to the latest version and have all the updates for it and see how it goes... or if that doesn't work uninstall it and reinstall it. Ive never seen this problem before... lol although once i had a problem with WMP and it would play all my video clips upside down... crazy huh.... i forgot how i fixed it though...
 
Whoaa wait a second, i take back the part where i said it only happens in WMP. the brightness is just as high in other players also, such as realplayer.
 
well thats a horse of a different color isnt it... you checked your brightness on your monitor? maybe upgrade video card drivers?
