I need the codecs for WMV because many websites still use WMV to play embedded media.

I uninstalled the Codec Pkg, but now my IE7 won't play videos on youtube or any of these other sites.

Any idea how I can restore my browser?

hmm idk man, you should have kept the pack just in case, it couldnt have taken up much room. maybe if you restore that it might work?

MPC has nothing to do with your browser. you already know youtube contents are flv. does this happen in IE only ? what about FF ?
it could it be that your flash plugin has messed up

MPC did something that messed up IE. I think it wrote a bunch of stuff into the regristry that's messing up IE. My other browsers look OK, so it's not the flashplayer.

Things actually got real bad this morning when I started my PC and I couldn't open anything on the desktop! I kept getting a message saying I wasn't he admin and didn't have right to access any program, not even Windows Explorer. So I rebooted from disc and restored the system to a point a few days ago when things were brighter and everything cleared up.

Moral of this story: don't use MPC. And be carefule what you download and install. One little program can cause HOURS of trouble.

nah man, let me tell you.. YOU BE CAREFUL when you download and install things cause you are the one that messed up.
and as for your problem regarding nothing opening and not being the admin etc that was not MPC you just had problems face it, you could have posted a hijack this log so we could have helped

Why the hostility? Do you work for these people?

And how did I "screw up"? I downloaded MPC and ran it. Then the problems began.

Tell me what EXACTLY I did wrong?

The other thing that was fishy is that their website is not functional. None of the links work. What does that tell you?

Everyone can decide for himself by going to the site and/or downloading the codecs. All it did for me was cause loads of problems.
