media player problems!

I had to do a complete system restore on my pc and now when I go to watch a video on the net my windows media player keeps buffering and wont play video...any ideas? I thought maybe my firewall was preventing it from accessing the internet and shut that down and tried it with no luck and I have it configured to play all file types! Is there another media player that is free that I can download as I am so sick of all the problems I have with windows mp?

I have the same problem. I've tried everything I can think of but I can't fix it. I think it has something to do with the video file its trying to play because I can play different video quite fine. Itried to increase the cache used and stuff but it still doesn't work. What are you trying to play if you don't mind me asking?
 
You are probably missing the required codec for the video. Are you getting any messages (is the video in orange on the play list)?
 
I was trying to play some videos of trucks on this sight called wegotmud.com and it player fine before I did full system restore :confused:
 
UPDATE: I just downloaded windows media player10 and now it works :D I dont know if when I did system restore some files might have become corupt and the new mp fixed it or if there was just a problem with websight all I know is I can watch vids again :D :D :D

yeah, i had winamp and MP10, and i like MP10 much better!
