Media Player

I am having problems with Windows Media Player saying it cannot read my cd however it does play and read random and shuts off random and comes up with the error cannot read cd. I just finished installing a new exact MB that went bad. I have downloaded all new driver updates, had Microsoft trouble shooter check everything and they say it is fine. I have tried different cd's and same result. It has to be the software right? I cannot rip cd's to the computer or play them. Any help would be appreciated. Side note ( after installing the new MB I have decided to go for a new build as soon as I have funds, it's not that hard!). I have checked fix errors automatically with no results.

Most likely a bad cdrom drive. Have you tried a different one? What caused the motherboard to go out? Power surge? Usually they take out more than just the motherboard.

I dont know what took it out. I suspect the PSU first so I replaced that. Then found the MB had a bad Memory slot and whatever else, caused hard to start and blue screen a plenty, now the cd drive, however it seems to read data fine since reloading my OS to the hard drive and all. I guess the easy thing will be a $20.00 new drive. how about this one?http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118031 Maybe this one instead? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204#top

Get the Asus burner for $19.99. You can also try borrowing a drive from someone first just to test.
