Media test failure, check cable - No bootable device

Hi Guys

I was asked to purchase a new hard disk for a colleagues laptop (Toshiba Satelite), as he believed that the hard disk was dead.

When booting up the laptop, the hard disk makes a clicking noise and I receive the following message on startup.

Media test failure, check cable.
No bootable device.

Also when checking the Boot order, the hard disk doesn't appear to be recognised.

Believing that the hard disk was dead I purchased a new hard disk, however I still receive the message "Media test failure, check cable. No bootable device. There is no clicking however and the hard disk is recognised in the BIOS.

I'm not sure why I'm still getting this message. Perhaps it's a connection issue between the hard disk and motherboard? (connection is Sata)

Thanks in advance
