mem not workin

i have a stick of 512 400mhz ddr ram, and all of a sudden it doesnt work, i have 2x512 sticks and when i pull one out the comp works, every time i put that stick back in the monitor doesnt come on, anybody know the problem or is it simply that my mem stick is now broken?
 
that doesnt look like reputable manufacturer...run memtest with both sticks in (if you can), or run it with one at a time to determine which one is faulty. what is the motherboard?
 
looks like compatiblity issue cuz i remember doing the same on one motherboard it has sthe same symptoms but it will work on another mobo.
