memory confict

if ddr memory stick was inserted into system running alongside a sdr module,
(yes big major fu*k up by a customer of mine) would it just blow the memory or the mobo.?
i have already quoted over the phone for a new build but they are on a tight budget(ahhhh) and i'm trying to do it as cheap for them as possible.
Don't ask me how they managed it in the first place
it aparrently said something about "cpu impact"

i would think that the memory would just not run in Dual channel mode. kinda like inserting just one stick. but dont quote me on that.

This would be a board before dual channel. I don't know if using both will fry anything, it might just not boot until you remove one or the other.

i will have to take a look on tuesday when they bring pc to me, hopefully convince them to switch to ddr system anyway. thanks for advice
