ok here goes...recently i had a 120 gig HD die...i reinstalled xp on this 40 gb drive had the same RAM used as last time now when i installed elder scrolls oblivion i get this BSOD with the error "page fault in nonpaged area" i don't get this with any other games but that one...this game played just fine on my other HD. Now i did some reading on this and apparently this can be caused by some bad data placed in my RAM by the dead HD so my question is..is this accurate and if so is there a way to clear my RAM?

As far as I know, that's impossible. Memory only holds data when a current is present.

Well, all I can suggest is to download Memtest, and open up 2 instances of each, so you have 2 running simultaneously. Find out how much memory you have available with nothing but Windows running. Hand half of your available memory to 1 instance, and the other half to the other memtest program. Then start both.

ok...i rana scandisk to see if there were bad sectors on the drive nothing came up..i attempted to run memtest86 however i think i need a floppy drive which i don't have (correct me if im wrong) and i didn't notice this before but the BSOD says "The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ati3duag.dll" now before my HD screwed up i was running the catalyst 6.7 drivers..when i reinstalled on the new HD i noticed the 6.8 Cats were out so i downloaded those should i try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers or go back to the cat 6.7's?

You ran scandisk? We're talking about your memory here, not your hard drive.

There's no point uninstalling Cat 6.8.

Get memtest here. It runs IN windows.

well it seems fixed i uninstalled the 6.8's and installed the omega 6.7's and haven't seen a blue screen since...thanks for the replies
