Memory install issue.

I currently have a baffling issue that I would like to ask your opinion about. I recently purchased an additional 2 gigs of memory for my desktop (which you tested for my wife the other day). I am using 2 G Core 2 Duo Pentium w/Windows Vista 64 bit I am currently using Super Talent DDR-1-400 PC3200 1G each CL3. The new memory is Super Talent DDR-2-667 PC5300 1 G each CL5. I consulted my motherboard manufacturer to be certain that I purchased the correct memory. The installer told me that my motherboard had a 4GB max.
I cannot get the desktop to see both sets of memory. I have tried just the DDR-2 (this works fine) I have tried just the DDR-1 (this works fine as well) I tried one of each and the computer only sees 1 G. When I load it all, it only sees 2 G (either way). When the boot screen appears, it says it is in dual channel memory mode. When I go into setup, it says that dual channel memory mode is active. This one has me baffled.
Below is a shortcut to my exact motherboard.
Any help accessing the additional memory would be helpful.
Thanks
Bob

you cannot use DDR and DDR2 memory at the same time. i recommend removing your DDR memory sticks and using the DDR2 ones, as this will give you better performance. your mobo is an older one that can use either DDR or DDR2, but not both at the same time. (this causes the issues you described) It's one or the other and DDR2 is better.
